If you would like to give your liver some TLC on a daily basis (and a nice glow on your skin), then add this tasty TLC Carrot Salad to your daily routine. Even better, mixing in a grated or thinly sliced apple really complements this nicely too. And apples are another great way to give the liver some extra TLC.
Did You Know?
Eating foods that support your liver daily along with giving the body digestive rest in the evening and through the night is how the body has been designed to eliminate toxins naturally.
And this TLC Carrot Salad will also provide support the the good gut bacteria and colon function. Both are also essential for successful daily detoxing.
Let’s do a little dive in to see why carrots are one of many foods that can help with supporting the liver to eliminate toxins daily.
Carrots’ Liver helpers
Beta-carotene
Carrots are a rich source of beta-carotene that the body converts into Vitamin A. Beta-carotene is also fat-soluble and this helps stimulate bile which is produced by the liver. Bile serves several key functions for digestion and one being helping to bind toxins, cholesterol, hormones etc…and remove them from the body via stool.
Fibre
Carrots have the two kinds of fibre, insoluble (acts like a broom stick that helps sweeps the pockets/walls in the large colon) and soluble (acts like a vacuum cleaner/sponge) that help keep the colon clean and gets things moving.
Besides beta-carotene providing liver/gut support…it also helps give your skin a healthy glow. Carrots also contain vitamin C which is needed for making collagen— another key nutrient essential for beautiful skin.
Veggie Skins
I leave the carrot skins on. And just give them a good washing and scrubbing since many nutrients like vitamin C and phytonutrients are most concentrated there.
And both your liver and skin with thank you for eating the skins too!
