This Chocolate Coconut Smoothie provides a well nourishing meal. And it uses BPA-free canned coconut milk with out any additives or carrageenan.

I like the brand Native Forest. And then I just dilute it with filtered water for a quick homemade coconut milk that doesn’t requiring any soaking, filtering or blending. All you need to do is give the can a good shake first before opening and pour into a glass mason jar for storage. If needed, mix it further to ensure the fat and water are not separated and then add the amount needed to use in this smoothie recipe.

Since coconut milk and coconut yogurt do not have much protein, I like to add 3 tbsps of hemp hearts to turn this into a balanced meal.

But you could easily swap the hemp hearts out for 1 serving of a clean protein powder of your preference.

And if you have no issues with dairy, then you can swap out the coconut yogurt for a plain Greek yogurt. And it will not compromise the coconut vibe since there’s plenty coming from the coconut milk and coconut flakes. The main purpose of the yogurt is to add some live friendly bacteria to give your gut some extra TLC.

This smoothie is so nutrition pact, from potassium, vitamin A, healthy fats–including omega 3’s, protein, antioxidants and fibre, not to mention the creamy chocolate taste with strawberries. A great way to start your day!!

Enjoy this simple Chocolate Coconut Smoothie!
