This Tomato Kimchi Smoothie is a gut friendly one with 5 servings of veggies to boot. And provides a rich dose of probiotics! Which has a positive effect on your immune system too.

What is Kimchi you ask?

Great question!!

Kimchi is a living food, full of good friendly live bacteria (probiotics) and made by fermenting veggies like radishes, cabbage, and carrots in a brine. Many add ginger, garlic and onion for flavour and to provide food for the bacteria to thrive on.

Besides having a positive effect on your immune system, this probiotic rich food greatly helps improve digestion and cleansing.

And the longer the veggies have fermented, the more aromatic and spicy they become. This helps develop a layered and very unique tangy  flavour.

Where can I find Kimchi?

Kimchi can be found in the fridge section of your local grocery (health section) or health store. Not all Kimchi are vegetarian so if that matters, read the label for fish sauce or any other ingredients from the sea that are not from a vegetarian source.

How do I incorporate Kimchi into my diet?

You can eat it raw as a side dish, added to a smoothie (like this one) or even blended into a dip.

If you are new to fermented foods, though, start gradually by adding 2 tbsps to this smoothie and work your way up to give your digestion time to adjust.

Enjoy this simple Tomato Kimchi Smoothie!

And your gut will thank you!!
