Sauerkraut may seem like an odd ingredient to add into a smoothie, but it gives this Orange Carrot Smoothie a nice tangy taste. And this fermented vegetable also contains probiotics (live friendly bacteria).

From a Nutrition Standpoint

The sauerkraut, combined with a juicy vitamin C-rich orange, beta carotene-rich carrot (an antioxidant that helps boost vitamin A in the body), plus the super-healthy fats from omega 3-rich chia seeds…gives you a pleasant tasting yet very nourishing smoothie for the immune system and the gut.

Chia seeds are also great for brain health, energy booster, and an excellent source of fibre that aids in good digestion, and slows down the absorption of sugar to help maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

DYKT? Chia means strength.  Nutritionally speaking —this is way cool (and it really lives up to it’s name)!!

Nice take away

This Orange Carrot Smoothie is also a nice way to sneak sauerkraut into the diet for those finicky eaters, especially for healthy ideas for breaky on the run.

I call that pretty smooth! 😉
