These Cacao Peppermint Balls use raw cacao powder and are so easy to make in minutes and sure to become a holiday favourite with all. They also make wonderful gifts!
Pssst…don’t tell anyone they are healthy cause they will not believe you.
I use cacao powder which is made from fermented beans that have not been roasted and loaded with antioxidants. Antioxidants can help to protect your cells from free radicals that are formed from both internal and external toxins. Regular cocoa powder is processed at a much higher temperature that lowers the antioxidant capacity and some nutrients. And the latter often has added sugars and dairy, but you can use whatever you have on hand. Just do the best with what you have and work towards going cleaner in steps you are comfortable taking. Stress is the biggest killer so make peace with your choices, especially if budget is a concern. If you can’t afford cacao powder, look for the cleanest cocoa powder that you can afford.
When it comes to eating clean you don’t need to give up things you love the most over the holidays…just make them better, using real food, and let the real flavours bring your taste buds to life!
For another holiday treat with a clean twist try my Gingerbread Energy Balls. They are a must if you like gingerbread.
Enjoy!!
